The Pit
A lunger phlegm of February
Snowy dirt is but a slushy spit of God
Petrified winter won't go
Half-dimmed glance of the lightpost
Winks agreably to the nods of crippled buildings
Damp nausea of the leaden clouds
Pours down as a vomitous bile
Of indigested souls
With grief, delirious he'll be
Standing, watching, life-bitten and weathered by time,
Crooked and yet not bent, a shiner, what an idiot,
In blissful ignorance, secluded.
The land is crippled back and front
No place to allocate the graveyard
Or are those graves? Street fingers, trenches?
The world torn inside out, a pit,
It is above, dug into heaven.
The earth has puked the human flesh,
Uprooted, stirred from slumber.
Why not just put it up above,
Closer to God, dig graves in heaven.
Consumptive february, scum of the earth
is all around, human slush.
As if to finish digging the pit
To tear and rend the timeless reign
of opressiveness.
Have you found god within thyself, or isn't he there?

Ἡ εἰκών was an impressive debut, but way too short! Luckily, Ψευδομένη arrives to satisfy the urge for more of what made its precedessor hit hard and fast: some atmospheric moments (don't be deterred as this is still brutal, dissonant and disgusting to the core) and at the same time, J.L. is exploring longer tracks - e.g. my personal favourite - and implementing some cavernous lows. If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's most likely that this man refuses to stand still. What a pace! David Fischer
